AIA, NCARBAlex Haecker has over 25 years of professional experience in design, architecture, historic preservation, adaptive reuse and rehabilitation. Alex has worked on a wide array of projects during the course of his career, but has focused on adaptive reuse, historic preservation, urban infill, and workplace environments. Along with his architecture practice he is deeply committed to serving the community and sits on a number of non-profit boards and recently completed his third term as a Commissioner on the Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission. This dedication, both professionally and personally, affords him the extensive knowledge of historic renovations, additions, and renovations of existing buildings and spaces. His work encompasses residential, municipal, non-profit, educational and corporate clients across the nation.
Molly Dalsin has over three years of architecture and design experience. Her passions lie in exploring complex conceptual issues and seamlessly connecting urban planning, architecture, landscape, and interiors into a holistic spatial product. She is invigorated by challenges that weave community, architecture, research, and culture together. Her previous experiences as a research scientist fuel her attention to detail and pursuit of architectural research. She is currently teaching architecture at the University of Minnesota and contributes deep conceptual understandings of the built environment to both academia and practice. With experience across all phases of architecture projects, Molly hopes to foster relationships with every stakeholder to create meaningful built works as an integrated team.
When not working on a project or teaching, you can find Molly wrangling two young kiddos, throwing some weights around, then eating all the cookies and chocolate.
AIA AssociateMike Gordon has over 8 years of professional experience in design, architecture, historic preservation, adaptive reuse and rehabilitation. Mike has worked on a wide array of projects since graduating with his masters in architecture including residential, commercial, urban infill, adaptive reuse, and historic preservation projects. In addition to his professional work Mike teaches design based studios and workshops in the College of Design at the University of Minnesota. Working professionally and in academia allows him to weave his passions together and interact with different communities. Understanding how individuals, organizations, and communities relate to design and the spaces they inhabit is a constant pursuit for Mike.
Associate AIAJohn Greene has over 4 years of professional experience in design, digital fabrication, architecture, historic preservation, adaptive reuse and rehabilitation. Before entering the profession, John completed a three-year apprenticeship with a master carpenter in mid-coast Maine. He relishes the opportunity to collaborate with construction professionals to find innovative solutions to the challenges that today’s construction market presents, especially when working with existing buildings. In addition to his professional work John teaches an undergraduate conceptual drawing course in the College of Design at the University of Minnesota. John is inspired by architectural processes that synthesize the needs of the community, create joy in the built environment, and respect the individuality of how each person occupies space.
Residential & Landscape DesignWith over 15 years of experience in landscape, interiors, residential, and project management Erika brings a unique and non-traditional perspective to AWH. As a Master Watershed Steward and Landscape Designer she guides projects site and landscape development bringing in rainwater gardens, collection and reuse, native, pollinators and low-maintenance plant selections into a cohesive and sustainable design. Also trained in interiors and well versed in residential she carefully fine tunes plans and material selections to best suite our client’s needs.
Design InternKate, our newest team member, has been working with AWH for over a year. She transitioned from part time design intern to full time team member after finishing her Bachelor of Design in Architecture degree from the University of Minnesota. Kate’s interests in sustainable design and adaptive reuse initially drew her to AWH Architects and continue to inspire her as she learns more in the professional field. The AWH team is grateful for her fresh perspective and eagerness to be part of all aspects of projects.
